Shorty, as he was best known, was a former president, steward, director, and life member of the DSCC.
A good crowd attended to support the field of 14 entrants from the local club and a few from away.
The classes all ran in a reasonable time, with increased track knowledge and skills shown by juniors Abbie Fraser and Ian Gray.
Awards for 2023 were handed out during the lunch break, with Bryson Lloyd taking out the All Wheel Drive class and was the overall Autocross champion.
In other results, Ben Crozier claimed Class P (production), Class E (modified) went to Burt Banks, and the junior champion was Darcy Crozier.
Khanacross ran on a short course during the lunch break. Drivers aged 12 to 16 gained some experience in driving skills.
Volunteers supported the day’s events in the canteen and as timekeepers and stewards.
Justin Aylett, who is president of the Shepparton District Car Club, made the trip across to assist by officiating.
The club always welcomes new drivers, especially new juniors, to attend events on the third Sunday of each month.
March will be round one of the Victorian Club Autocross Series, with drivers expected to come to Deniliquin from all over Victoria to compete.
It will be a twilight event with racing starting at noon.
Food and drinks will be available throughout the day and the bar will be open from 1pm-9pm.
Entries are open now and close on March 15.
