The occasion is about more than milestones, premierships and statistics. It is about honouring loyalty, resilience, friendship, leadership and the lasting impact that individuals can have on a club and the wider community.
For the Tait and Bourke families, Saturday carries even deeper significance.
Following the passing of Tracey Bourke in January 2003, the bonds between the two families became even stronger through their connection to the Yarrawonga Football Netball Club.
Over the years, the Bourke girls, Kait Cummins, Annalise Grinter and Laura Irvine, became part of one of the toughest defensive transverse lines in the league and helped shape an era of success for YFNC netball with Bridget Cassar the key pin under the ring.
These women have grown from talented juniors into outstanding players, leaders, mothers and respected members of the community.
Their stories are a reminder that clubs are about far more than what happens on the court or field. They are built on friendship, support, family and lifelong connections.
Bridget Cassar – a career like no other – 300 Games
On Saturday, Bridget Cassar joins Xavier Leslie as the only other Yarrawonga player to reach the remarkable milestone of 300 senior games.
Beginning her Yarrawonga journey in 1998, Cassar has compiled the most decorated career in the club's history. Her record includes 384 club games, 300 A Grade matches, 15 A Grade Grand Final appearances and nine A Grade premierships. Her individual achievements are equally impressive, including two A Grade Best & Fairest awards (2013 and 2014), along with Life Membership of both the YFNC and the OMFNL.
Beyond her playing achievements, Bridget has devoted more than 14 seasons to coaching, helping develop generations of players and contributing enormously to the culture and standards that define the club today.
Laura Irvine – excellence through consistency – 250 Games
Laura Irvine's career has been built on dedication, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to team success. Since joining the Pigeons in 2003, Irvine has established herself as one of the finest players to wear the club's colours. Her record includes 314 club games, with 250 of those at A Grade level.
Laura has played in nine A Grade Grand Finals, winning six premierships, along with a cheeky C Grade premiership for good measure. Her individual honours include the Toni Wilson Medal in 2015, dual Best & Fairest awards, and Life Membership of both the YFNC and OMFNL. Laura has also coached for more than six seasons, continuing to invest in the future of the club while setting standards of excellence both on and off the court.
Annalise Grinter – a legacy of commitment – 250 Games
Like Laura, Annalise Grinter arrived at Yarrawonga in 2003 during a challenging period in her life. What followed has been a remarkable journey defined by commitment, resilience and service to the Pigeons. Over more than two decades, Annalise has become one of the club's most respected figures through her dedication to teammates, the club and the broader YFNC community.
On Saturday, Annalise will receive OMFNL Life Membership alongside her sister Laura, a fitting recognition of her outstanding contribution to netball and the league.
The story of these families reflects what makes community sport special. Together, these women have helped establish standards of excellence that have shaped one of the most successful eras of the YFNC. Their influence extends well beyond premierships and awards; it can be seen in the culture they have created the teammates they have inspired and the younger players who aspire to follow in their footsteps.
This Saturday, the Yarrawonga Football Netball Club proudly celebrates three true legends of the Pigeons. Their records are outstanding. Their contribution is immeasurable.
2006 and 2016 reunions
Following the celebration at 12.30pm, the fifth annual Reunion Long Weekend swings into full gear. An all-inclusive marquee on the outer and a dedicated netball marquee will operate from 1pm, with both marquees combining following the A Grade match.
Importantly, all marquees are open to volunteers and past players, not just those involved in the official 10-year reunion celebrations.
The club looks forward to welcoming all Pigeons back to the Nest for what promises to be a memorable weekend.
