Shepparton Strikers Red booked its Goulburn Valley Hockey Association Men’s grand final place with an impressive victory over SYC Yellow in the elimination final.

The Yellows came into the crunch clash down at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex on September 5 as favourites, having clinched the minor premiership following an impressive home-and-away campaign.
However, their jubilation will have been short-lived after a tricky finals campaign, which started with a 5-4 defeat at the hands of SYC Blue in the semi-finals on August 29.
They had the perfect opportunity to put things right in the elimination final, as they looked to get back on track against the Strikers Red and earn a grand final ticket in the process.
Any hopes of a reversal of fortunes during the business end of the campaign were extinguished, though as the Reds earned passage to the all-important showpiece with a compelling performance.
They will face off against SYC Blue in that winner-takes-all battle, with the grand final slated for Saturday, September 12 down at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex from 2pm.
The Blues booked their place in the grand finale to the campaign after a 3-2 victory over inter-club rival Shepparton Strikers Blue in the semi-final back on August 29, setting up what promises to be a captivating showdown.
Meanwhile, in the GVHA Women’s draw, Mooroopna booked its grand final place with a 3-0 win over SYC, while Echuca-Moama defeated the Shepparton Strikers, 2-1 to join them.
They will play each other for the GVHA Women’s flag on September 12 down at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex from 4pm.
