Donkin is not only regarded as a stalwart of the club but also a pillar of the wider netball community in the Murray Football Netball League.
She joined Finley in 1987, after moving across from the Cobram Netball Association.
In the years since, she has become a fixture at Finley, renowned for her unwavering dedication, passion for netball, and exemplary sportsmanship.
Across nearly four decades, Donkin has shown steadfast commitment both on and off the court.
Beyond her impressive playing achievements, she has served as the Murray Football Netball League’s netball administrator, contributing countless hours to the smooth running and growth of the league.
Her support has extended to all clubs, not just Finley, making her a respected figure throughout the league.
Despite the significance of this achievement, Donkin remains humble and true to her nature.
She is not one to make a fuss and prefers to let her actions speak for themselves, always putting the team, club and the sport above her own accolades.
“As a club we have been so privileged to have had Karen dedicate herself to netball,” said Finley president Matt Clarke.
“Her loyalty to Finley and her invaluable service as league administrator have shaped netball in our area.
“She is always there to support players and clubs, and we’re immensely proud to celebrate this milestone with her.”
This week’s game is an away match, and fittingly the milestone will be celebrated alongside the Cobram Football Netball Club.
Finley has expressed appreciation to Cobram for coming on board to help mark the occasion, recognising Donkin’s netball journey and her legendary status throughout the league.
Further celebrations will take place at Finley’s last home game of the season on Saturday, August 22, where the club and supporters will have another opportunity to honour Donkin and her extraordinary contribution to netball.
The Finley Football Netball Club invites the local community and supporters from across the league to celebrate Karen Donkin’s achievement, a testament to her passion, perseverance and lifelong dedication to netball.
