The Rams had some tough match-ups against Nathalia but got wins in the under-17s netball and football and under-13s netball.
This week the Rams play Numurkah with both clubs having faced each other in round five at Hardinge St with several close results in both the netball and football.
The club will be aiming to show what they’ve learned from those fixtures earlier in the season, as well as last week against Nathalia.
This includes for the senior footballers, who are coming off a 39-points loss but were competitive with scores level at half-time.
Coach John Fitzpatrick said they’d given a good account of themselves despite mounting injuries.
“We were pretty impressed with the effort, especially in that first half, to stay with them.
“Tommy (McCallum) broke his leg six minutes into the second quarter, which held play for a bit and Noah Bradley had done his ankle before that so we were down to two on the bench.
“That was two of our backs so we had to do a bit of a restructure which gave us a bit of a new look.”
The Rams senior footballers are one of three teams in the league with three wins this season, while their opponents this week are one of four teams with seven wins so far this season.
They also face Numurkah who are recovering from a four point loss against Tongala last round and are searching for form.
Fitzpatrick said they’re aware the Blues will be desperate to win tomorrow.
“It is always hard away against Numurkah so we’ll have to work hard.
“Although I think they’ve only won one of their last five.
“With that, they’ll be looking to bounce back against us and get a win.
“Like every game, we’ll go in positive.
“We’ll keep going with what has been working and try to continue a bit of a restructure.”
The young squad’s depth will again be tested due to injuries, but is another great opportunity to develop, Fitzpatrick said.
“We’ll have to bring in a few players including hopefully Oscar Wren a 17-year-old who should be available this weekend and Jake Herberte ran the Gold Coast marathon a couple of weeks ago but was still a bit tight so hopefully he’s right this week, but we’ll wait and see.
“We’ll continue to bring youth in for youth and try to get a bit of good experience into them.”
