Tough day for the Hoppers as the injury toll mounted and the quality of the opponent was strong. Rennie started poorly losing the contest in the middle, and were unable to penetrate a strong Jerilderie press. Term two showed flashes as the Hoppers evened the contest around the ball, which continued in term three. But the effort took its toll late as the visitors ran away to win by 121.

A strong start was the catalyst for the Hoppers to hang on and get up by two points.
Eighteen up at the first break was on the back of Donno and Rudi in the middle and Smithy being the focal target. Jerilderie chipped away and hit the front in the final term but the Hoppers rallied. Smithy kicked four goals.

A Grade
Rennie 44 defeated Jerilderie 35
Netball games are sometimes a marathon and not a sprint and that was proven on Saturday in a hard slog, well fought, four-quarter effort by A Grade.
We never dropped our heads and believed in our team’s ability, persisting with the basics. With our captain Brooke McDougall playing her 150th game, the girls were eager to get a win on the board.
Out and about early picking off numerous intercepts was Brylee McCarty, showing off her versatility and changing positions late in the game was a pivotal turning point. Ella Rhodes made smart choices and worked tirelessly all game, opening up many chances for her teammates and shooting with great accuracy.
Eliana Martin and Abbey Coghill had strong hands in defence, gaining many key rebounds that helped assist in our win.
Heleena Shaw used her pace to wipe the floor with her opposition, having many player changes on her, the young gun kept a level head and did what her coach had asked of her.
Rennie is pumped for their first win of the season and wishes Paula Mifka a speedy recovery from injury.

B Grade
Rennie 43 defeated Jerilderie 37
A great day out for B Grade. Despite having two weeks of illnesses, the team pulled it together for the game, keeping their focus on perfecting the basics and playing their own game.
Annie, Chey, Jess and Celine worked the defensive end with persistence and determination, creating many turnovers to capitalise on. Annie earned herself the best-on-court award with her valiant efforts in defence.
Her movement and ability to read the play created great pressure, which she was rewarded in with intercepts and rebounds.
The conversion from defence to attack was smooth with our midcourters Alainah, Ella and Georgia working hard to create space and flow down the court. Zoe, Ebony and Danielle’s strength in the goals was impeccable.
Their movement together in different combinations was cohesive and their accuracy was on point. It was great to see B Grade stepping into their own style of game and play with confidence. Well done B Grade on your first win for the season. Go Hoppers.

C Grade
Rennie 49 defeated Jerilderie 30
It was another sweltering day out on the court this week, but that didn’t stop the C Grade Hoppers from coming through with their first win of the season on home ground.
A strong defensive effort in the ring with rebounds and excellent reading of play within the defensive and centre thirds saw several intercepts and turnovers moved back down to the goalers, who were on fire.
Once again hands over pressure and movement down the court into the attacking end with strong communication between teammates was key to the girls’ success.

Rennie 30 defeated Jerilderie 17
Rennie turned on the beautiful sunshine to host Jerilderie. The Hopperettes were chasing their first win for the season and did not disappoint.
The team has been slightly struck with injuries, with Jae getting late instructions to rest and Brodie out with a poor calf. The girls took the court with confidence and was great seeing Tegs back popping up shots like she was pre-Tex.
Brit and Tegs rotated the ring well and made it tough for their defenders. Our midcourt rotated effectively in the heat.
Illa continued with her well-waited passes and excellent court direction. Loz may have showed up dusty after a wedding, but was able to sweat it out running the centre.
Alysse continued to improve this week with the grace of a wonderful Irish dancer. Trudie provided constant run and was always a good option. Shez ‘Ricky Ds’ McBurnie had a late change of position and demonstrated that she can do it all, rocking it out in the defence position.
The game captain for the round, Burke dog, did a great job with many tips, intercepts and strong pressure. A nice first win for the season. Well done girls.

With the sun shining it was all go out at Bull Plain Road.
The girls took the court ready to win! The defensive pressure down the court and strong drives made it a good game to watch. Everything that was asked of the girls, they did.
Their adjustments with the changes that were made had no impact on the girls’ ability on the court.
With a 25-goal win over Jerilderie, the Rennie 17s all deserved an award as they all had successful performances.

After a tough start to the season the Under 15 girls can happily pencil in their first win.
Nerves were quite high in the first quarter but as the game progressed we settled nicely into it.
Every part of the court was on fire with all the girls playing their role in the win. Ruby, Michelle and Mim in the midcourt dominated all day, working the ball from defence to attack effortlessly.
Our drives in attack were clear and concise, allowing the ball to move freely. Charlotte and Sienna were on song in goals, hardly missing a shot. Kate, Tess and Sam worked tirelessly in defence, forcing Jerilderie to work in overdrive to score.
A nice little change up in the last quarter saw Jasi pull on the GS bib and absolutely dominate in the ring.
A great game by all, it’s awesome to see our hard work paying off.
