One of Yarrawonga’s favourite sons, Tom Lonergan has found himself in a new AFL club as the Development and Talent Manager of Carlton Football Club.

Tom, a 209-game premiership player with Geelong, will join the Blues in a new role within the coaching group as he will focus on the key areas of player development and talent analysis.

Since retiring in 2017 Tom has spent time working with the Calder Cannons in the NAB League as Talent Manager before becoming the Talent Operations Lead at the Geelong Falcons.

“I was fortunate as a player to be afforded every avenue to succeed and seeing the elite environment that is being established here, really makes me excited to provide that same opportunity to the players coming through at Carlton,” Tom told Cartlon media last week.

“I admire the development program Luke Power and the other coaches have built here over the last few years and look forward to doing everything I can to grow that and contribute overall to making this football club consistently elite.”

Tom will join other well known AFL names in senior coach and brownlow medallist Michael Voss, Aaron Hamill and Matthew Kreuzer in other coaching roles at the Blues who look to build on season 2022 and secure a place in the finals in 2023.
