Yarrawonga has returned to the top of the table in strong showing against fellow finalist lock North Albury, winning in a in a high-quality contest, by two goals.
The Pigeons converted 47 goals from 61 attempts, while the Hoppers were remarkably accurate and finished with 45 goals from just 47 shots. Two shots on the ring for the afternoon are almost unheard of.
The game was seesawing affair for much of it but heading into the last quarter the Pigeon superstars were down by 5.
From there Yarrawonga produced a strong last quarter and edged home in one of the closest contests of the round.
The result reinforced just how even this year's A Grade competition is, with the top three sides tightly bunched, but realistically five or six teams are capable of defeating each other on any given day.
Fresh from her debutante ball, Maisie Pell spent the entire match at goal defence and impressed with her composure and consistency.
Lauren Nolan, playing just her second A Grade game, moved into goalkeeper and continued to show she belongs at the level with another assured performance.
Wing attack Kylie Leslie again proved invaluable, seamlessly filling whichever role was required. Her versatility has been a feature of Yarrawonga's 2026 campaign, and she once again made an important contribution.
Off the court, congratulations to former Pigeon Jedda Nolan, who secured her next umpiring badge after an excellent game officiating.

B Grade
North Albury 20 def by Yarrawonga 71
Yarrawonga produced another impressive four-quarter performance on Saturday, claiming a convincing 51 goal victory over a determined North Albury outfit.
The Pigeons started strongly and never took their foot off the pedal, building pressure from the opening centre pass and maintaining their intensity throughout the contest.
Defensively, Yarrawonga were outstanding, restricting North Albury to just a single goal in the second quarter as the team applied relentless pressure across the court.
No matter the combinations thrown onto the court, Yarrawonga continued to move the ball with confidence and purpose, with every player contributing to the team's momentum.
While the scoreboard reflected Yarrawonga's dominance, credit must go to North Albury's young side, who never stopped competing despite the challenge they faced.
Their resilience and willingness to continue fighting for every contest was admirable and bodes well for their future development.
For Yarrawonga, it was another strong team performance that showcased the depth and versatility of the playing group.
The focus now turns to next week's clash, where the Pigeons will be eager to reverse the result from their previous meeting with the Bulldogs and turn that earlier loss into an important win
C Grade
North Albury 25 def by Yarrawonga 44
The C Grade had a strong start against North Albury this weekend with a 19-goal win.
The team fought hard all game to win, focusing on pressure the whole way down the court. We thank the girls from the younger grades that filled in.
Players player was Stevie Driscoll and coaches award was Shani Dickins, who both had outstanding games.
Under 17s

Mabel Cope performed well under the ring with 19 goals for the Under 17s.
Yarrawonga’s Under 17s produced a great team performance to record an eight-goal win over North Albury on Saturday.
The Pigeons played with intensity from the opening whistle, applying strong defensive pressure across the court to provide many opportunities in attack.
Evie Henley, who was available between her busy football schedule, had an outstanding game starting in defence before moving into attack, where she continued to influence the contest with her versatility, composure and competitiveness.
The team were able to control key passages of play, with every player contributing to a well-deserved victory.
Under 15s
North Albury 50 def Yarrawonga 38
It was a tough contest for our Under 15s, going down to North Albury 12 goal.
The girls showed plenty of determination and never gave up, continuing to fight right until the final whistle.
Our standout performers were defenders Winnie and Ruby, who were outstanding all game. Their pressure, defensive effort and ability to win back possession kept us in the contest and earned them Best on Court honours.
Although the result didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the match, and the team will look to build on today’s performance heading into next week.
