YMGCR Bowls

Last week several of club members travel to the Moama May carnival.
On Saturday the team of Garry Sanders, Anne Miles, Bill Jenkins and Claire Sanders won the mixed 4’s. Winning 5 out of 5 playing at the grass greens at Rich River, they then had to go to Moama and played the finals on their synthetic green.
Their first opponents had played all their games in Moama which gave them a huge advantage. Only having a one end roll up the YMGCR team dropped a three on the first end.
With only a five end final, the next end was critical and they responded with a five and then went away and had no trouble to taking a comfortable win.
Their next game would prove to be more challenging playing a local side from Echuca, but with Bill having a good game they proved too strong.
This team has now won this event two years out of last three and the last year finished runner up.
In the ladies pairs the club was well represented with Laureen Smith and Caroline Rielly winning three and a half wins the same as Elaine Rothe and Robin Moore, but just missing out on the prize money.
The monthly two bowl triples were held on Wednesday with sponsors for the day Yarrawonga Mulwala Real Estate and the PS Cumberoona.
The winners were C Bowden, P Russell and P Perkins from Barooga and the runners-up were the locals of R Irvine, G Green and A LeFevre.
Best game winners were H Smith from Barooga, R Tait from Yarrawonga, G Hart from YMGCR and B Mitchell also from YMGCR.
Unfortunately Friday bowls was washed out. Don’t forget the club is trying a new format where players draw for partners, so single entries can now be taken.
