With bad weather earlier in the week it was a very pleasant surprise to have 26 bowlers for Wednesday pairs, with 4 teams winning both their games.
The winning pair of Peter Lidgerwood and new member Pam Snowdon with 19 shots up, runners-up with a good score of 16 shots up were Peter Velardo and the third Richmond, Peter.
The 2 Peters also took home the jackpot.
Friday had 20 bowlers entered for the draw for partners and the winners were Ian Morffew and Neville Coleman with 2 wins and 9 shots up, the runners-up were Bob Fiddes and Hangs Lang.
The jackpot was won by Kerry Kinnane and Peter Bellis.
Sunday bowls had a great field of 24 bowlers and they all had a fantastic day with beautiful weather and magnificent greens.
The winners were Ray Brown and Ian Morffew with 2 wins and 13 shots up, runners-up with 2 wins and 8 shots up were Marie Whitehead and Neville Coleman.
Don’t forget to put your name down for opening day Saturday, August 27. There will be a list on the notice board for people who what to play and also a list for people who want to have afternoon tea.
The green will be opened by the new vice president of the O & M committee Laureen Smith at 1pm.
Yarrawonga Bowls Club
The club has coming up in the month of August the Yarrawonga Grand all in Social Bowls Day which is being run by the Social Committee.
This is an opportunity for bowlers and non-bowlers to get together and have fun and enjoy the game, so if you are thinking of taking up or only new to the game of lawn bowls come along and join us on this day.
The game format will be decided on the day determined by the numbers and Lunch will be provided the cost is $6 per person and the day starts at 11am on Sunday, August 27.
Also coming up in August is the Season Opening Day on the 19th starting at 1pm this day is Sponsored by B & W Owen.
On August 20 the club is holding a Sponsors Day and would like as many members as possible to come along to support this day and the sponsors who help keep this club running.
A game of bowls will be played to be followed by barbecue and salads
Coming up on September 6 is the first 2 Bowl (Open) Triples Tournament of the new season this game starts at 10am.
So, come along and put your team in for the very first tournament game of the season and get off to a great start.

Saturday, August 12 bowlers played a social game of Jackpot Triples with 27 players coming along and the winners of this game were Doug Corrigan (s), Janice Corrigan and John Richards.
The runners-up were Jock Mc Qualter (s) Daryl Giddingss and Ron Neilsen. The jackpot was not won so it has also been carried forward.
Next week’s games are Wednesday, August 16 Jackpot Triples, Saturday, August 19 Season Opening Day starting 1pm (please bring a plate).
On Sunday the club is holding a Sponsors Day starting at 11am to be followed by barbecue and salads. This day is being held to thank our sponsors who have supported the club in the purchase of new club shirts and the club would like as many of our members to come along to this day.
On Monday, August 21, bowlers will be playing Nominated Pairs 2-4-2 at 1pm and entry for this game closes at 11.30am on the day of the game. All entry lists can be found in the clubrooms.
ClubMulwala Outdoor Bowls
This week was great for bowls with the days growing a little longer and the sun warming up.
Tuesday Social was well supported once again.
Winners on the day were Barry Pitt and Laurie Leary, runners-up were Jim Murdoch and Greg Fisher - well done to all players. The jackpot did not go off
Sunday Social was played in magnificent weather.

Social bowls continues to provide an opportunity for members and visitors to come along and enjoy the hospitality or the club while sharpening their skills for the coming penant season.
It is also a great way for new and prospective bowlers to come along and enjoy a game in friendly and not too competative enviornment .
Don’t forget Opening Day for the season will be on August 27 at 1pm, beginning with some fun bowls followed with afternoon tea, the list is now up on the board.
ClubMulwala Indoor Bowls
Social Bowls - a very good attendance on Monday, August 7 for the club meeting and bowling.
Only one game of 10 ends was played after the meeting.
The winners with a score of 18 were John Ellis (s), Anne Mc Kain and Joan Wilson.
There were two with a score of 16 with Reg Bryce (s), Judi Cummins and Sue Stillard +12 coming second.
The encouragement award went to Glenyce Willox (s), Jill Carr and Jan Stephens with a score of 2.
Numbers were up on Thursday, August 10. There were 3 x 2 game winners with Marna Tomlinson (s), Lyn Ryan, Marita Ryan and Keily Parmer coming first with 33 points.
There were 2 teams with a score of 32 with Val Bryce (s), Dot Shanks and Sue Stillard with +11 coming second.
The encouragement award went to Geoff Charlwood (s) Gwen Owen, Vince Keenan and Pat Harker with a score of 6.
The following were elected for the 2017-2018 year; President Trish Murphy, Vice President John Ellis, Secretary Judi Cummins, Assistant Secretary Gwen Owen, Treasurer Anne McKain. All were appointed unopposed.
There was a vote for the 6 positions on the Match Committee. Those elected were Reg Bryce, Val Bryce, Barb Eberle, Fran Smith, Marna Tomlinson and Glenyce Willox.
Glenyce was voted to head the match committee. Congratulations to all and thank you to all who nominated.
The volunteers for the Catering Committee were Ellen Buckley, Lyn Ryan, Fran Smith, Joyce Torpy and Joan Wilson. Phyllis Novotny will fill in, in an emergency.
