The girls came out firing in the first quarter and Steph’s shooting was on point! In combination with defensive pressure saw the Bears 20 to 3 at quarter time.
In the second quarter the Bears rushed their passes which lead to some easy turnovers, but everyone kept their heads up and got the ball back.
Steph was doing so well the opposition decided to team up on her putting pressure on Carly and Lisa to step up and they proved this team does not rely on just one player as they all moved so well in the ring (sorry Carly but you can say goodbye to defence, you have earnt your spot as a shooter).
Ally and Kirby had the most intercepts all game getting plenty of the ball to convert.
The word for the weekends game was “pressure” and everyone made their opponents work hard to get the ball.
Proud of how the girls backed each other up.
Was awfully hard to pick awards this week as every player gave an awesome effort, hard to believe these girls have not been playing together for years as they work so great together.
Special thanks to John for scoring, hope the lollies were payment enough.
Awards: Miss Dolly - Steph Dickie and Wingates - Ally Cooper.

Strathmerton 11 defeated by Tungamah 39.
The second game for the season and it would be easy to assume the Bears have been playing together longer.
Teamwork on the court was great and Sally asked to see strong, direct passes as well as making space. This allowed Tunga to get some turn overs and follow through to the goals. Superstars Brooke and Leanne scored over 15 goals each, with support from Sheryl and Katie.
Shaz, Amy and Emma dominated the centre third, picking up loose balls and getting the play back into Tunga’s goals.
Amber and Sally were amazing in defence, with Amber surprising everyone with her giant throws from centre third into the ring.
Thanks to Emmy for being an emergency on the bench and jumping on for a quarter. A great game overall.
Awards: Hardluck – Emma Walker and Free as a bird – Brooke Keenan.

Unfortunately, didn’t get the win this week however after a really good training session Thursday night they once again showed massive improvement.
The attacking end took on board everything Jay told them to do and really displayed it on the court helping them find some movement.
The defensive end also played well but just struggled a little bit with a few things however they are showing improvement. Overall, the girls are really starting to gel more as the weeks go on and jay is excited to see them come together even more. Players player went to Shenae this week who played the game out in GA and did everything she was asked to do. Coaches award went to Bella who showed massive improvement through the mid court this week and really took some initiative and helped lift the team when they needed it.

The Bears had their work cut out for them this week. The girls played well together and there was lots of play down both ends of the court, unfortunately Tunga’s just didn’t result in goals.
The girls should be proud of themselves, a win is surely just around the corner.
Emily B has been listening to coach Jen and was using her outside arm which resulted in clean intercepts.
Charli played her best game to date; she was everywhere she needed to be and showed the fire in her belly and fought hard for every ball.
Elli used strategy to get around her tall opponent and was constantly running around her.
Tayla, Abbi, Emily C, Jaz and Milli all worked the mid court well, there was many re-leads and trying to make space.
Brooke and Maddi were paired in the attack end and worked around each other to get closer to the ring for a better goal position.
Lilli and Demmi were the other defence players and they made themselves known by making themselves tall and making it harder for Strathmerton to score.
Thanks to Debbie for umpiring.
Awards: Player’s award Crusty Loaf - Charli and Coach award McDonalds - Emily B.

The mini Bears are improving each week with lots of talking on court. The girls have all listened at training to coach Deb because every one of them fought for every ball this week.
There is a great future for many of these young netballers as they already have the ability to read the play of the ball and are able to be in position for intercepts.
The Bears had Chaye and Molly working well together in the defensive ring with Grace, Chloe and Poppy working well down the other end in attack.
The midcourt of Kiera, Billie, Ava and Paige were able to work the ball down the court when needed. Everyone lead well and re-lead if necessary.
Thanks to Katie for umpiring.
Awards: McDonalds - Billie-Jo and Crust Loaf - Paige.
