The man in his 70s was driving his Toyota Corolla along the Murray Valley Highway towards Yarrawonga when another vehicle heading back to Queensland turned right towards Bunnings in front of the corolla.
Due to the impact the corolla driver spun out of control, spiralling through the give way sign before coming to a rest on the side of the road.
Emergency services all attended the scene with SES volunteers cutting the man free after his feet were trapped.
Part of the Murray Valley Highway was blocked off to traffic with motorists redirected down Zorro Drive before the highway was reopened just before midday.
The injured Yarrawonga man received a head injury as a result of the accident which required surgery.
Since the accident there have been many negative comments on the Chronicle Facebook page about the location at the traffic island and the position of various signs in the vicinity.Â
