Today, Super Clean Linen Service employs nearly 80 people, serving regional Victoria and NSW and now, holds one of the region’s highest business honours.
The family-owned enterprise took home the Foodmach Manufacturing and Trade Award at the recent Campaspe Murray Business Awards, marking a significant milestone for a business which has grown alongside Echuca-Moama’s thriving tourism scene.
General Manager Judd Lanyon, who joined the business five years ago to work alongside his parents, accepted the award and said he felt both honoured and grateful for the recognition.
“I’m certainly surprised, but in the same sense my parents have built a great business... we're really proud of what we're still building and what we've achieved,” he said.
Starting out as the Echuca Steam Laundry in the Subway building, the business relocated several times as it expanded, eventually settling into its current plant in 2007.
For Judd, the award is welcome validation in a competitive local market.
“It's particularly notable on the night just the incredible businesses within our community — Echuca-Moama and the border region certainly punches above its weight when it comes to independent business,” he said.
“For us to be recognised as a business that contributes in that sense in the community is great, but also it gives us some validation that we're heading in the right path, and we're doing the right things.”
Super Clean provides a breadth of services, handling linen hire and laundering for accommodation and hospitality providers alongside garment work for businesses in the food and manufacturing space.
Looking ahead, the focus remains on balancing new opportunities with maintaining the business’ standard of service.
“Coming up to a busy period with our seasonality typically following the tourism sector, we're hoping tourism remains strong,” Judd said.
“Mostly (we're) trying to bed down and continue to provide a reliable service for our customers, but there's certainly some growth opportunities out in the market as well... making sure we're getting the balance right between biting off enough that we keep growing, but also providing a good reliable service for our existing customer base.”
Judd thanked the crew behind Super Clean, emphasising that none of the success would be possible without the team's hard work and contributions to the business.
