Vikki Petraitis, award winning true-crime author and podcaster, will dive into the craft of storytelling and the real-life investigations that inspire her true-crime work.in this lively, candid session. With plenty of behind-the-scenes detail, she unpacks how stories evolve, and why crime, mystery, and human behaviour continue to captivate audiences.
Vikki Petraitis is the author of 20 books including The Frankston Murders, and the creator of several true crime podcasts series with Casefile Presents that have been downloaded over 10 million times.
Her novel The Unbelieved won the Allen & Unwin Crime Fiction Prize as well as the The Readers’ Choice award in the 2023 Davitt Awards and will hit the screens as Dustfall starring Anna Torv on the ABC late this year.
Vikki’s latest true crime book is The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron, released in January this year, and covers 40 years of investigations into the 1986 Phillip Island murder of Beth Barnard and the disappearance of Vivienne Cameron.

Paramedic Lauren graduates with honours
Former Yarrawonga local Lauren Heffer recently graduated from La Trobe University Bendigo with a Bachelor of Paramedic Practice (Honours) and was presented with her qualification at Ulumbarra Theatre Bendigo on April 15, 2026. Lauren is currently gaining experience as an Ambulance Community Officer at Ambulance Victoria (AV) Heathcote Branch, and is also working as a Disability Support Worker whilst waiting for a graduate position with AV. Lauren is the younger daughter of Rochelle and Craig Heffer of Yarrawonga.
Biggest Morning Tea at Ski Club this Thursday
Yarrawonga Friends in Common (YFIC) are gearing up for their biggest annual fundraiser with the Cuppa for Cancer on once again at event sponsor Mulwala Water Ski Club this Thursday, May 21.
Gather a group of friends, come along and enjoy a beautiful morning tea from 9.30am - 12pm, you could also win a wonderful raffle prize.
Donations of home-made slices, biscuits and small cakes would be gratefully received at the Mulwala Water Ski Club between 4pm and 6.30pm the Wednesday, May 20.
For a $10 contribution, guests will relish a delightful morning tea with the event raising money for those tackling cancer in the district and helps pays for expenses such as accommodation at Albury’s Hilltop patient and carer centre or petrol for travel to Melbourne hospitals.

Microchipping means your pets will be safely identifiable and can always be returned home to you.
