The Unbreakable Farmer, Warren Davies, will welcome guests to the screening on Friday, October 2, followed by presentations from Beyond Blue, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local and AgBiz Assist.
Just A Farmer explores the challenges faced by farming families and highlights the importance of breaking the silence around mental health in rural communities.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Scott Jeffery said the film provided an accessible way to begin conversations that could sometimes be difficult.
“Rural communities are incredibly resilient, but people can still experience isolation and feel as though they have to face challenges alone,” Cr Jeffery said.
“This screening is an opportunity to come together, encourage open conversations and remind people they are not alone.”
The event will also support the delivery of the Ruffy Tablelands Local Emergency Action Plan, which outlines locally developed actions to help residents prepare for emergencies and support one another.
“The LEAP recognises that local knowledge, strong relationships and clear communication are vital during an emergency,” Cr Jeffery said.
“These are principles that can help build stronger and more connected communities right across our region.”
The free event will be held at Longwood’s White Hart Hotel from 6pm.
As seating is limited, attendees are encouraged to bring a camping chair or picnic rug.
Attendees should note that the film explores suicide, grief and the impact of suicide on families and rural communities.
