Now everyone can ride, thanks to Variety

The children at Cobram and District Specialist School now have an Adaptive eTrike for the school’s Bike Ed program, thanks to a grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity.

Andrea and Richard, co-owners of EveryBody eBikes, recently drove from Queensland to deliver the trike and a second bike to the school.

Having access to the adaptive trike means all the children can engage in the bike education program, irrespective of their disability.

The eTrike is considered the best way for staff to share the riding experience with children who cannot ride a bike safely.

Assistant principal, Lisa Oliver said the bike helped to foster their sense of independence and feelings of self-efficacy and confidence.

“This equipment also provides the opportunity to accessibly exercise, which reduces sedentary behaviour and improves motor skills,” Lisa said.

“Most importantly, having access to the trike enables the students in our school community to surpass their own and others’ expectations of their capabilities, whilst maintaining their safety.

“We are very excited about this purchase and want to thank Andrea and Richard; this was a wonderful surprise, and we thank them for their generosity.”
