Players are invited to join Club Mulwala Bowls Club for the 2026/2027 season, home of the Kookaburras. Full membership is only $100 and includes a free pennant shirt for all new members. Social membership remains at just $10.
Full membership includes free coaching, free entry to all club championship games, and a free two-course dinner at Club Mulwala on presentation night. “Come and have a laugh with us” is the club’s motto, and players of all abilities are encouraged and welcomed.
The club has pennant teams in A grade and lower grades, ensuring all members have the opportunity to participate in the Ovens and Murray League.
Those new to bowls are encouraged to come along and learn from the club’s coach and experienced players. Bowls are available for use while learning, and members can practise on the greens year-round.

Duke of Edinburgh Shield Tournament
Club Mulwala Bowls had the honour of hosting part of the Duke of Edinburgh Bowls Tournament over the weekend. The event is staged across multiple clubs in the region each mid-April.
The Yarrawonga/Mulwala RSL team competed against RSL clubs from Geelong, Hampton, Altona, Rye and Frankston.
Day one began with a “stand to” at 9.00 am, with the flag raised by life member Barry Martin. At the conclusion of day one, Club Mulwala was leading the ladder, finishing second overall after day two.
A great weekend was enjoyed by all players, and thanks go to the club’s volunteers and umpires who helped make the event such a success.
Wangaratta Ladies Tournament
Several club members will represent Club Mulwala Bowls at the Wangaratta Ladies Tournament this Thursday. The club wishes them all the best.
Bowls Lotto
Bowls Lotto continues this Sunday, April 19. The popular 2-4-2 format begins at 12.30 pm, with names to be on the board by 11.00 am. Entry is $10 per player, and participants can enter as a pair or individually.
Tatts Quick Pick packs and scratchies are awarded to winners, and visitors are welcome to join in. The club looks forward to hosting this fun and social format throughout the cooler months.
Tuesday Social Bowls
Social bowls is played every Tuesday, starting at 10.00 am, with players asked to arrive by 9.30 am. Entry is $5 per player, with names required on the board by 9.00 am. Visitors are always welcome.
Last week’s game attracted 36 players, including several visitors. Grant’s team, along with visitors Rosemary and Lou, were the winners, defeating Graham, Keith and Nicole. All winners received a $20 Club Mulwala voucher.
Raffle winners were John Walford (Hicks meat tray), Lou Matthews (Ricky Dee’s Pizza voucher), and Malcolm Millar (Ricky Dee’s Pizza voucher). Lunch, refreshments and plenty of laughs were enjoyed by all post-match.
Club Championship Pairs
Ladies
Di Day and Bev Hulm faced Liz Murdoch and Nicole McPherson in the first semi-final in what proved to be a marathon match. Liz and Nicole prevailed by a narrow margin to secure a place in the grand final.
They will meet the winners of the second semi-final between Kay Smith and Jan Tabart and Betty Richmond and Kim Lefevre.
Men
Les Spencer and Darki Day took on Jimmy and Andy Lefevre, with Spencer and Day finishing with the win after a strong contest. They will now face Wade McPherson and Wayne Dowsey for a place in the grand final.
The other semi-final will see Ray Butler and Greg Bennett take on Graeme Arnold and Gary Parker to determine the remaining grand final spot.
Grand finals are scheduled for Sunday, May 3, following the club’s AGM. Good luck to all players.
Barefoot Bowls
Bookings are open for barefoot bowls sessions, perfect for business, club or social gatherings. All equipment is supplied, with a lively atmosphere, music and refreshments available.

Tatts Bowls Club Visit
A match against Tatts Bowls Club will be held on Monday, April 20 at 10.00 am. All members are encouraged to participate. Lunch will be available, with a roast and dessert for $20 per person. Please indicate interest on the notice board.
Remember Our Heroes Tournament
Sunday, April 26. Format: two-bowl open triples, three games of 12 ends. “Stand to” at 9.30 am. Entry is $90 per team.
Prizes: First – $900; Second – $450; Third – $300
A light lunch is included. Entries close April 20 via clubmulwalabowls@gmail.com. This event is an important occasion for the club to pay respect to those who have served the country.
Annual General Meeting
Sunday, May 3 at 10.00 am in the Endeavour Room at Club Mulwala. Nomination forms are available on the notice board. All members are encouraged to attend.
Presentation Night
Sunday, May 31 from 5.00 pm in the Endeavour Room at Club Mulwala. Members are invited to celebrate the season and recognise premiership players. A free two-course dinner will be provided. Attendance lists will be available soon.
YMGCR Bowls Club
Wednesday Social Bowls
A very encouraging turnout of 40 players shaped up for Wednesday Social Bowls last week.
Games were played across both greens, and there were many tight heads on display. Enjoying the conditions and finding the greens to their liking were Bruce Davie and Ray Brown, who finished in first place. Their efforts were rewarded with $100.00 between them and a drink card each.
The runners up prize were won by Gary Presnell and a visitor, Peter Rogan. Gary and Peter shared $80.00 for their efforts.
The losing rink consolation prize was won by Noel Millar and Fred Donaldson, who shared $60.00.
The first Lucky Number Raffle prize of $20.00 was won by Robyn Forge. Noel Millar rounded out a successful day when he won the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $10.00.
Friday Social Bowls
Numbers are building steadily on Fridays, with players getting back into the swing of the Friday format of one game of 2 x 4 x 2 nominated pairs and last Friday the 10 th of April 32 players.
Mustering for Social Bowls. Finding conditions to their liking, on rink 12, were the team of Anthony Clotta and Robert Watt who shared $120.00.
Continuing on with their good luck, and winning ways from Wednesday Social were Fred Donaldson and Noel Millar who set rink 5 on fire and secured the runners up prize of $70.00.
The losing rink consolation prize of $40.00 was shared by Peter Verlardo and Trevor Kilpatrick.
The first Lucky Number prize of a drink card and $20.00 was won by Rick Bath. The second Lucky Number prize of $10.00 was won by Terry Cartwright.
Presentation Day
Due to the unavailability of some of our Trophy Winners, the bowls section has moved Presentation Day from this coming Sunday the 19 th of April to Sunday the 26 th of April.
There will be a game of social bowls commencing at 12.30pm. At 3.00pm afternoon tea will be served in the clubhouse and trophy presentations will follow afternoon tea. Partners are welcome to attend.
Bowling members are asked to wear their current club pennant uniform. There is a list on the Bowls Office notice for those who intend coming along.
To assist with catering can you place your names on the list as soon as is practicable.
Nominations for Committee Positions
Nominations for YMGCR Bowls Committee, Match Committee and Weekend and Mid – Week Selection Committees close this coming Friday the 17 th of April.
A bowls club is only as strong as members willingness to get involved in club life. You can make a significant contribution to the running of our club by nominating for either the Bowls Committee, Match Committee, or Weekend and Mid – Week Selection Committees.

Tungamah Bowls Club
Major Raffle Draw
The major raffle draw will be held this Saturday, April 18 at the presentation night, taking place at the Tungamah Hotel from 6.00 pm.
Members and supporters are welcome to attend and witness the draw. A meal and entertainment will be provided. Raffle tickets are still available—please contact John on 0405 468 67. Players are reminded to return books by April 16.
Prizes include:
First prize: Return flights for two people, including five nights’ accommodation in Noosa, $1,000 spending money, undercover airport parking with car wash and clean, and limousine transfer from Maroochydore.
Second prize: Six tickets to a Melbourne Storm game at AAMI Park in the corporate lounge, including food, beverages and entertainment.
Third prize: Stihl chainsaw, carry case and esky.
