This Thursday, 23 April, will see the barefoot bowls crew vying for the honour of winning the first Max Calder Memorial Night.
Teams of our regular barefoot bowlers will be partnered with a club pennant bowler, with the aim of their team emerging victorious.
While Thursdays are traditionally about fun and socialising, Max was a great bowler and a competitive character. He would be tickled pink seeing his barefoot crew having a real crack at winning the coveted title.
Thursday nights really are like a family. Come and join the fun, watch the action under lights, and have a laugh.

Friday Night Happy Hour – JBI Electrical
We had a great number of members at our traditional Friday night happy hour and also hosted JBI Electrical, one of our valued sponsors, for a barefoot bowls social night.
While it was a little chilly, the JBI crew enjoyed the bowling, the barbecue and salads provided by the club, and refreshments from the bar. It was great to see one of our sponsors enjoying the club facilities.
Well done to Maurie Lee, our Sponsorship Manager, for organising the night, and to Evelyn for coordinating the evening, along with members who contributed salads and helped out. Your support is always appreciated.

Vale Kevin Evans
Sadly, we lost club stalwart Kevin Evans this week. While his mind remained sharp until the end, his body was no longer as strong.
Kevin was a long-serving member of Yarrawonga Bowls Club for many decades, winning five club championships and representing the club at many Ovens and Murray events. He was an outstanding player, but more importantly, a true gentleman and a tireless worker for both the club and the community.
Kevin took great pride in the upkeep and maintenance of the club. He was often found up a ladder fixing something or maintaining the clubrooms and greens, always with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He will be sadly missed.
A memorial service to celebrate Kevin’s life will be held on Friday, 24 April at 12:00 pm at St Andrew’s Uniting Church, 9 Tom Street, Yarrawonga, followed by refreshments at the club.
For those wishing to contribute to Kevin’s farewell, the club would appreciate donations of scones or sweet and savoury slices. These can be dropped off at the club on Thursday evening during barefoot bowls or Friday from 11:00 am.
If you can assist with any upcoming events over the next two weeks, please contact Kay Tait, Evelyn Calder, or Kim Silver. Your support and generosity are what set this club apart.
To all our club members and the wider community, good health and good bowling.
