This September, young footballers have the chance to train alongside some of the biggest names in the AFL when 5th Quarter Camps, led by 2026 GWS captain Toby Greene, comes to Yarrawonga.
The two-day camp will be held at JC Lowe Oval on Tuesday, September 29 and Wednesday, September 30, bringing plenty of AFL excitement to town during the school holidays.
“I’m really looking forward to it, after being in Albury and Wagga the last couple of years,” Greene said.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in Yarrawonga … hopefully it’s really busy at school holiday time and we get a lot of kids down.”
And this is no ordinary football clinic.
Joining Greene on the oval will be Collingwood’s much-loved, recent retiree, Steele Sidebottom, with Geelong Cats full forward Jeremy Cameron also set to take part, pending the outcome of the finals.
“The biggest thing is the access,” Greene said.
“Both these guys have been superstars in their field for 15 years.”
The camp is open to boys and girls aged five to 13, with all experience and skill levels welcome.
For Greene, one of the biggest attractions is giving country kids the opportunity to learn directly from players who have spent more than a decade at the highest level.
“They’re awesome, both guys who grew up in country regions,” Greene said.
“Getting great characters in and being able to learn the craft and skills that they have learned.”
Across the two mornings, participants can expect plenty of kicks, marks, handballs, challenges and games, along with Q&A sessions and small-group coaching designed to build skills, confidence and an understanding of the game.
With places strictly limited, local young footballers are encouraged to register early to avoid missing out.
