Waaia was at its clinical best in an away game against Jerilderie, condemning the Demons to only its second senior loss of 2026 - yet the purple, red and green find themselves outside the top eight.
In an unusual looking ladder set-up after seven rounds, the Bombers and Kats lead the 16-team competition undefeated, before seven teams file behind with 4-2 records.
Reigning premier Katamatite lead the pack of 4-2 outfits, while Jerilderie’s heavy 130-point loss to Waaia has the Demons sitting ninth with a percentage of only 76.

Jerilderie found the middle of the sticks twice in the second term, but Waaia piled on the pain with another five goals, before a repeat effort of the first quarter in the third term, another seven-goal-to-zero 30 minute block.
With the lead already into triple figures, Waaia cruised along in the last to finish 23.17 (155) to 3.7 (25) victors.
Charlie Burrows led the goalscoring with six, while Jesse Trower and Connor Brown kicked four each.
Katandra’s sixth win of its PDL campaign came up against a gritty Strathmerton outfit, the Bulldogs’ third quarter lapse the only difference between a closer result.
The Kats secured a 32-point win at home after leading by just two goals at the main break, scoring 4.5 to one goal in the third term to break the game open.
Barooga defeated Berrigan by 31 to sneak into eighth place at the bye, while Dookie United cruised by Blighty by 53.
Katunga, Rennie, and Mathoura were all on the end of thrashings, succumbing to respective 154-point, 206-point and 92-point losses to Katamatite, Tocumwal and Tungamah.
Deni Rovers’ 54-point win over Picola United was the round’s other football result.
In the netball, Waaia too triumphed over Jerilderie, 40-29, while Katandra has continued hot form, defeating the Bulldogs 63-26.
The Tigers defeated Katunga by 30 goals, the Thunder walloped Blighty by 52, the Rovers toppled Picola United by 23 and Barooga stormed over the Saints by 30 in the netball’s one-sided games.
