Daryl McKernan took out the prestigious Bruce Johnstone Memorial with an October 2 victory over Jason Bassett in a match where Jason’s early lead was swamped by Daryl’s outstanding performance in frames 2 and 3.
This is Daryl’s second club event for the year in what is turning out to be a stellar season for the club Treasurer.
The next big event is the club doubles where the Darren and Jake Thompson father and son combination starts at a prohibitive odd on price.
Strange things happen in all forms of sporting endeavour but a victory by any other pair will most certainly result in an official inquiry including swabbing of all players and forensic analysis of sportsbet fluctuations over the course of the event.
Monday, October 5 saw the final catch up Club Challenge event where the soon to be re-handicapped Dave Mark continued his post-covid form to take victory over the very consistent Tony Cincotta.
Wednesday, October 7 saw the club welcoming 2 new members in Jack Bassett and Danie Herrod, who joined another recent inductee in Jake Andrew Mills.
Darren Thompson eventually took out the evening’s event over Daryl McKernan, who is possibly seeking a steward’s review after actually losing a match.
Monday, October 14 saw a momentous changing of the guard in the Bassett household when Jack had a victory over father Jason on his way to taking out the took out the night’s event.
Jack eventually defeated Darren Edwards in the final and managed to find his own way home safely.
In the social play event on Wednesday, October 16 Nev Page got a number of lucky rolls to just deny Jack his second win in as many events.
Again, the club had a very good number of players attending in what is a very positive sign for the club.
