The club will be concentrating on condensing the season to get through the year’s events calendar, which will see the club increasing nights of play on some occasions.
Club Challenges are normally monthly events, as per monthly medals at golf, with winners and placegetters squaring off at years end, but the club will be playing a flurry of catch-ups to make up for lost time.
Dave Mark returned as a winner by taking out the first challenge on Monday, September 21 with a win over ever consistent Tony Cincotta.
This is David’s first win so congratulations and well played to him. Jake Thompson emerged from hibernation to take out the Wednesday night social event with a clinical demonstration of his talent. Jake won the final over Hans Lang but won three matches for the evening despite handing out large starting margins.
The second Club Challenge on Monday, September 28 saw a continuation of Thompson family dominance with President Darren defeating Tony Cincotta in the final.
Tony then followed up with a win in Wednesday night social snooker over Darren Edwards in what was his third final table in four events. Mr consistency indeed.
This week will also see continuation of the Bruce Johnstone Memorial, where Daryl McKernan will play the winner of a semi-final between Deb Harbrow and Jason Bassett.
This event has now stretched out for over three months so best of luck to all of the finalists in what has become a true test of patience.
