In football, Congupna is still undefeated and leads all-comers in first, 10 points clear of second-placed Nathalia.
The Mulwala Lions are third-placed with the Nathalia Purples on 32 points, but only one game ahead of the three sides occupying fourth, fifth and sixth, which are Cobram, Numurkah and the Moama Magpies.
Also in the finals conversation is Tongala, which sits seventh and only a game behind the Magpies.
No side in the competition’s top six is safe in its current position, such is the tight nature of the standings.
With just six games left in the season due to a bye in round 16, Mulwala take on the Magpies at home this Saturday for one of its most important challenges of the season to remain a game clear in the top five. However, another win for the Magpies would put them level on points with the Lions.
Tough matches against Nathalia and Cobram are still ahead for the Lions and clashes against Tongala, Deniliquin and Echuca United won’t be a walk in the park.
In the A-Grade netball competition, Mulwala and Nathalia are currently first and second, respectively.
Both sides are two games clear of third-placed Moama, which is on a seven-game winning streak, though that will be tested when the Magpies travel to Mulwala next.
Moama hasn’t faced the Lions yet so this weekend’s Round 14 will be an interesting clash.
A large contingent of Lions’ junior footballers took to the field for interleague games in Wangaratta on Sunday.
Archer Kirchen and Fletcher Woodhead represented the Under 16s side, Tyce Woodhead, Byron Dodd and Ned Saunders were selected in the Under 15s team, while Nash Cook and Fin Mitchel played for the Under 14s and for the Under 13s side Ben Ferguson, Benji Watson, Jayden Stephens and Raffa Leary were selected.
All Murray League sides will be back in action this Saturday, July 11.
