In just over two weeks, Gunbower Racing Club will be packed for its annual day of days.

The Gunbower Gold Cup, 2025’s Country Racing Victoria community club event of the year, will be held on October 3, and tickets have been flying out the door so far.
“Bookings are enormous,” club president Vicky McGillivray said last week.
“We’ve already got more than we had last year.
“General admissions are amazing, we’ve got seven buses so far from Echuca.
“Our tracks are just looking brilliant, so the excitement is building.”
Despite the rush, marquee and umbrella packages remain available until September 24, pending availability, while general admission and Big Green Shed luncheon tickets can be bought right up to race day, including at the gate.
There will be plenty to entertain on and off the track, with the always popular fashions on the field boasting a current prize pool of almost $12,000.
The competition will include seven categories including boys and girls 5-13, 13-18, men 18+ and ladies 18-45 and 45+, and will be just one of the highlights of race day.
“We have seven (races) guaranteed, and usually, we get the eighth, but we don’t find that out until acceptances come in on the Thursday,” McGillivray said.
“We have live music with Darcy Ramage, so many food vans, and free kids’ activities.”
Club president Vicky McGillivray said “excitement is building” for the Gold Cup.
Spectators are set to come from far and wide, and competitors follow the same trend, with a mix of horses and jockeys from near and far.
“We really would like to mention our female jockeys,” McGillivray said.
“Years ago, it was only one, two, now, it’s pretty much 50/50.
“Last year, we had 10 female jockeys, so I’m sure we’re going to get more than that this year and now with our newly renovated female jockey rooms, there’s no reason not to come.”
The Gunbower Gold Cup will be held on October 3, with gates opening around 11am.
Return bus bookings are available from Echuca and Moama as well as from as far as Kerang if you are coming from the west.
