Picola 50 defeated Rennie 49.
With an unsettled start to the game the young A grade side didn’t take long to adjust. The very close defence of Picola was making things hard for the Rennie attack.
After the first quarter Rennie stepped up the intensity and handled the physicality well and really started to play some great netball.
The attack end of Eliza, Ella, Brooke and Sophia made the most of every opportunity and with very few goals missed Eliza dominated the rebounds.
The defensive pressure of Mikayla, Hannah and Laynee was impressive and really pushed the Picola girls to bring their best.
The match went down to the wire with Rennie losing by the narrowest of margins 1 goal.
An outstanding game to watch with all the supporters on the edge of their seats.
Awards: Showcase Jewellers - Sophia Shaw, Yarra Hotel - Eliza York, Mulwala Bakery - Ella Rhodes and Publican's Daughter - Hannah Shoppee.
B Grade
Picola 34 defeated Rennie 31.
A tough game on the court against Picola. With a large number of regular players out with injury, sickness or prior engagements, the team looked very different to what they are used to.
A massive thank-you to the U15s and U17s girls who constantly step up when they are needed – and they all dominated the court and made an impact on the game in all 4 quarters.
This week the B Grade showed that they could keep their heads up, communicate on the court and not let unforced errors ruin the flow of the game.
Yes, the game didn’t go in Rennie’s favour, but the B Grade also improved by not letting the score blow out after each break time.
The Hoppers contested the ball, had patience when they needed to, and were determined to play as a team from whistle start to whistle end.

Thank you, Lucy Bassett, for stepping up into seniors while the C Grade have players out. Your commitment to the club is amazing for such a youngster and not to mention solid effort against experienced players.
A consistent effort as always from Allie in defence, many things to work on for the C Grade team and much looking forward to and in need of the week off next week.

Under 17s
Picola 12 defeated by Rennie 75.
What an incredible day the Under 17s had on the court. The sun was out, and the girls had a full side for this weeks game.
From the first whistle the girls came out strong, with goals going in from all positions in the ring from both Sophie O’Dwyer and Ella Rhodes.
This only being made possible from the strong, consistent drives from Scarlett York, Sophia Shaw and Georgia Phillips.
The Hoppers hands over pressure across the court allowed them to continue to get turnovers and Grace Stephens and Zoe McKenzie showed what it means to follow every pass and no loose balls on the court.
And finally, the intense pressure in the defensive circle through communication, agility and the best 3 feet you’ve ever seen from Mia Doherty, Jemma Adkins and Abbey Coghill.
Well done girls, enjoy the break and school holidays and let’s come back stronger than ever.

Under 15s
Picola 7 defeated by Rennie 55.
It was a very flat start to the girls game this week. While all girls played well there is always things to improve on and work on. It was great to see Alani find her confidence again in goals and shoot beautifully alongside Sophie and Laynee.
Violett stepped into a new position this week in GD. With the guidance and support from Lucy she proved that she can play anywhere she is needed. Iris ran her heart out this week and showed she is on hell of a pocket rocket and always chased up every loose ball.
Another great win for the girls this week.

Development Squad
The girls development over the season has been impressive to watch. The coaches were super proud of the positive encouragement coming from all the girls on the court.
Great to see Poppy and Ava driving into space and anticipating the play. Ruby was a standout in defence and Maisey and Winnie's goaling was amazing.
