Hosted by Gippsland Swimming Inc, the two-day championships attracted 542 swimmers from 34 clubs across regional Victoria. Swimmers were required to achieve qualifying times to earn their place at the prestigious event.
Representing YMSC were Club Captain Lara Angwin, Flynn Cox, Darcy Cox and Finn Angwin, accompanied by Head Coach Lyndon Hart, Coach Kevin White, official Alistair Angwin, and a strong contingent of family members and supporters.
The small YMSC team produced a series of impressive performances throughout the weekend, with several personal bests and significant improvements on their original seedings.
Lara Angwin contested four events, recording a 0.12 second personal best in the 100m Breaststroke and climbing four places from her seeding to finish 17th. She also improved four places in the 100m Backstroke and five places in the 100m Individual Medley, while also competing in the 100m Butterfly.
Flynn Cox enjoyed an outstanding championship, recording three personal bests from his four events. He took 1.47 seconds off his 100m Freestyle time to move up eight places and finish 24th, before producing a 2.96 second personal best in the 100m Breaststroke to finish 14th.

For a small country club, qualifying four swimmers for the Victorian Country Championships was a fantastic achievement. The championships provided another valuable opportunity for the YMSC swimmers to test themselves against strong competition from across regional Victoria and gain valuable racing experience.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club congratulates Lara, Flynn, Darcy and Finn on their outstanding performances and thanks coaches Lyndon Hart and Kevin White, official Alistair Angwin, and the families and supporters who travelled to Traralgon and supported the team throughout the championships.
