Heie Hansen claimed his first ClubMulwala Snooker Club Champion title when he took out a thrilling 5 frame encounter against the 2021 runner up Darren Thompson in this year’s final. Heie did it the hard way, coming back from an early loss to Darren in the qualifying rounds to claim victories over former club champions Jason Bassett and Jake Thompson on his way to the decider.

Darren played some excellent matches to work his way through qualifiers including an extremely close best of three victory over Ric Conomy.
Heie took the first frame of the final held on Monday, November 14 but Darren came back to claim the next two leaving Heie in a sudden death scenario.
Victory to Heie in the fourth set up a winner take all fifth frame, which he took with stellar play including a number of solid breaks.
This is Heie’s first victory in the blue-ribbon event, so all congratulations to him on an outstanding performance. Darren also enhanced his status as “Mr Consistency” in a sterling effort to finish second in the deepest field the club have had for many years.
Monday, November 21 saw a knockout event contested by a good field with Ashley Nicholls claiming his first solo victory for the year over Nev Page in a see sawing final frame.
Social events were taken out by Darren Edwards over Martin Dermeitzel on November 16 and Ash Nicholls/Lochie Conner in a very popular doubles contest over Heie Hansen and Michael Barclay on November 23.
The 2022 season has officially concluded, and the spoils were distributed amongst winners at the Xmas dinner and presentation night last Sunday. All members wish to acknowledge and thank ClubMulwala for its very generous support and sponsorship of the club and sport.

Members are well aware of how lucky they are in terms of the facilities they have available to them and the prizes they compete for throughout the year and look forward to season 2023 with relish.
Thanks also go to President Darren Thompson who does a fantastic job in arranging events, maintaining handicaps and match records, arranging the end of year function and completion of countless other tasks in conjunction with his committee members to make the club such a successful and enjoyable organisation to be part of.

The Wednesday night social events will continue through December and January and welcome anyone who would like to give snooker a try.
The snooker club have 2 excellently maintained full size tables a high-quality lighting system that is the envy of most clubs, and the snooker room is available for competition, practice and visitor use.
The club has its own regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginners to advanced level can compete equally. There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players who can help with advice and tips on how to improve your game or perhaps adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.
