With 368, Herbert claimed the honour by seven votes from ruckman and past winner Zac Norris (361), Jack Russell (357) and another on-baller Brad Whitford (289).
Veteran defender Jason Morgan (221) rounded off the top five.
A stellar finals series was responsible for Herbert seizing the award.
After finishing runner-up in the Morrison Medal in 2023 and 2024, and the club best-and-fairest in 2022 and 2025, the win was well-earned and received.
And he got a huge ovation at Kyabram’s awards night on Saturday when he dismissed rumours he may have played his last game with the club.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Herbert said after receiving his award.
Ruckman Brenton Brasier was a popular winner of the reserves best-and-fairest.
He polled 239 votes to beat Danny Miller (178) and utility Noah Ryan (177), with Jarryd Pertzel third (129).
For the under-18s, Jedd Turpin with 303 votes was a clear winner from Oscar Carver with 265.
Tyler Doolan (182) and James Priest (167) were next best.
In the netball, the A-grade best-and-fairest was won by Jazmin Clark with 56 votes from Grace Kilpatrick’s 41.
Jazmin Clark was a standout in a tough year for Kyabram’s A-grade netballers.
The B-grade award was won by Teneisha Deery with 17 votes, while Mia Kilpatrick and Shinae McGown were joint runners-up with 13.
The B-reserve award was won by Phoebe Pate with Renee Simm runner-up.
For the under-17s, Maggie Guinan took the award ahead of Mia Stockdale.
For the under-15s, Mackenzie Donaldson was the winner while Ivy Costa-Lowe claimed the top award for the under-13 Baby Bombers.
The winners were acknowledged at the awards night with some prize signings in the build-up to the evening.
One of the highlights of the evening, attended by over 200 people at the Kyabram Club, was the presentation of life membership to club stalwarts Mark Dillon and Will Wild.
Mark has been a player, coach, administrator and supporter of the club for 40 years.
Will has been a loyal player with the club, with a 200-games-plus resume in both the reserves and senior teams.
