Friday social/jackpot bowls
No bowls as it was too wet on Friday, October 2.
Those wishing to play next Friday, October 9 are requested to ring the office between 8.45 and 9.15am.
Ladies match committee
The draw for the Ladies Championship event is displayed in the clubhouse.
Round one must be played by Friday, October 9.
All events are now displayed and ready for bowlers to enter.
Entries for the Drawn Pairs closes on Tuesday, October 20, with the first round to be played by Friday, October 30.
Men’s events
Entry forms for the championship, B-grade and C-grade are all available in the foyer.
Entries close on October 18.
Pennant training
All bowlers playing pennant this season are invited to attend pennant training or practice.
Each Thursday at 10 am or Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm.

60 and over - Dave Murray’s report
60 and Over played at Moama on September 30.
We had 28 teams playing on the carpet as well as on the grassed greens, which were a significant walk from the undercover area.
There were five teams that won three games.
Runners-up with three in the yardstick were Ky Valley View's team skipped by Graeme Topp.
The winners with five were Howard Tonkin's team from Ky.
Next week we are at Lockington, still starting at 11am.
Teams need to be entered by 6pm Sunday.

Lockington Bowls Club
A rather hectic week on the bowling greens this week.
On Friday evening the club held their official opening day, with several members in attendance.
Presidents John van den Bosch and Margaret Dowie welcomed all present and wished everyone a happy and successful season of bowls.
The respective club champions performed the duties as Leanne McInnes rolled the first kitty and Dave Thomas delivered the first bowl to officially start the season.
Last Thursday the women held a successful 3-bowl triples tournament, attracting 14 teams representing several clubs including Eaglehawk, Echuca, Calivil, Cohuna Golf, Elmore, Deniliquin RSL, Dingee, Kilmore, Lockington, Mathoura, Rochester and Tongala.
Tournament secretary Kathi Maddison thanked all involved in making the day a huge success, including Cindy Felmingham for the office assistance, the greens staff and the bar person.
Pauline Humbert was acknowledged for coordinating the day and providing the raffle.
Results: Winners - Rhonda Gallagher, Lisa Humphries and Pam Lewis (s) from Echuca with 18 ends ahead of the runners up, another Echuca trio comprising Sue Wright, Jill Young and Joan Dovaston (s) on 17 ends.

Special raffle winners included Margaret Dowie, Jenny Sutherland, Betty Ozzols, Gaye Goodwin, Jo Chique, Ellie Vretenburg, Terrill Westwood, Jenny O'Shea and Sue Wright.
The presentations were conducted by Margaret Dowie and Glenda Nichol from sponsors Nichol Trading - Rochester.
Nichol Trading have been supporting this tournament for several years and the club appreciates this ongoing assistance.
Saturday was the opening day for the Campaspe Area Weekend Pennant competition.
In a blistering start to the season, all Lockington teams were successful, playing some extraordinary bowls.
Division three travelled to Deniliquin and returned home with all rinks up and a 83-37 victory (Steve Peter def L Ritchie 25-10, Dave Thomas def K Salter 26-17 and L McInnes def H Anderson 32-10).
Division four proved too strong for the Ky Valley View opposition, winning all rinks to take out a decisive 85-36 win (J van den Bosch def K Black 20-15, L Buchanan def B Brown 21-10 and Denise Gilmore def K Topp 44-11).
Division six journeyed to Rochester to do battle, and won both games with a 43-24 victory (N Haines def G Houlahan 23-15 and K Stout def E Hall 20-9).
It was very pleasing to have new bowlers playing their first game of pennant.
Welcome to the club Sharon Smith, Alan Sharp, Keifer Haines and Clinton McKee.
All bowlers acquitted themselves well.
The club will hold the time honoured Waterwheel Classic Fours tournament on Sunday, October 18, commencing at 9.30am. This is a gold letter event.

Club members welcome the news that Andrew Harris has returned home from receiving medical treatment in Melbourne.
Trusting that it is not too long before Andy is back on the green.
60 and Over
The Campaspe and District 60 and over bowls group held their weekly bowls at Moama on a warm and cloudy day.
The bowlers played on the carpet under cover and out on the grass.
There were 30 teams of four, that is 120 bowlers competing for a chook.
There were five three-game winners.
The runners-up were Graeme Topp’s team from Valley View with three bowls in the head near the jack.
The Valley View team consisted of Bob Greenaway lead, Ken Hastie second, Graeme Topp third and Barry Brown was their skipper.
John Howard Tonkins’ team from Kyabram were the winners with five bowls near the jack.
The team consisted of John McFadden lead, Howard Tonkin second, Maurice Hately third and Phil Denham was their skipper.
They also received the Murray Hearing Services Perpetual Shield.
Both teams’ players won a chook each.
Next Wednesday is at Lockington, starting at 11am.

Rochester Golf Club
Wednesday 9-hole social golf was played on the front nine.
Once again there were some great scores.
The winner was Kevin McCormick with 26 points.
Runner-up was Greg Watkins with 25 points.
Other good scores were Alec McQuibban and Allan Campbell with 24 points, Richard Feuk and Chris Trewin with 23 points.
NTP on the 3rd went to Kevin McCormick.
Saturday was the first round of the Stableford Challenge.
Winner of the day was Shane Bywaters with 38 points on a countback from Tony Griffiths.
Ball winners were David Fuller 36, Leisa Evans 36, and Robert Ralph, Murray Schier, Barbara McCarty, Stephen Bubb, and Robert Vise (35).
In the men’s, NTP on the 3rd went to Robert Ralph, 5th to David fuller, 8th to Chris Eeles, and in the ladies, the second shot on the 8th to Barbara McCarty.
On the 9th, the second shot in the men’s went to Grant Robinson.
On the 12th, to Tony Griffiths in the men’s and Leisa Evans in the ladies.
On the 16th, Troy McInnes in the men’s and the second shot to Karen Taylor in the ladies.
The second shot on the 18th in the men’s went to Andrew Cassin.
Next Saturday is the second round of the Stableford Challenge, with hit-off from 11am to 11.30am.
A reminder about the club AGM, which is on October 26 at 7pm, in the clubrooms.
Lockington Golf Club
The 2026 season for the Lockington Golf Club has come to a close and members have enjoyed social gatherings to celebrate the season.

The Locky ladies gathered at the Locky pub for a delicious lunch and acknowledged the season’s winners.

Presentation night was held at the clubhouse, with members enjoying a delicious spread of casseroles, followed by scrumptious ice cream from Augustus Gelatery Echuca. Thanks to Ash and Cindy Portwine.

Wayne Angove Memorial Most Consistent Trophy (average of best seven stroke rounds): Equal 5th - Jeff Carnie, Ian Maddison 72.9; 3rd – Grant Humbert 71.9; 2nd – Jason Wakefield 71.4; winner – Kevin Humbert 69.7.
This is the 11th time Kevin has won this trophy. The first was way back in 1977, 49 years ago.
Cyril and Mary Robins Perpetual Stableford Trophy (aggregate of best four Stableford rounds): Equal 2nd, all on 140 – Ron Dixon, Kevin Humbert, Trav Mancer, Stuart Newton, and JD Wright; winner – Grant Humbert 141.
George McMinn Perpetual Par Trophy (aggregate of best three par rounds): 5th Tom Scurrah square; equal 3rd – Jeff Carnie, Jason Wakefield +1; 2nd – Grant Humbert +2; winner – Steve Holt +3 (fourth win).
